iPhone 5e and Galaxy S7 – The latest rumors from around the Web

The arrival of a new year typically means a few things: One, that CES is here; and, two, that we’re going to get plenty of new iPhone and Galaxy phone rumors. The first one has already come and gone, and we’re knee deep in the second. Following a hectic week at CES in Vegas, new rumors about Apple and Samsung devices have begun to pop, kicking off what will no doubt be a relentless round of rumors over the next several months.
The latest iPhone rumor claims Apple wants to offer a third device in addition to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, using older technology and a familiar design to cater to the low-end and emerging markets. Samsung, meanwhile, is nearing the completion of its Galaxy S7, which is shaping up to be a mobile powerhouse. Two very different devices meant for very different markets. Of course, Apple will still have its iPhone 7 toward the end of the year, but for now it looks like the Cupertino company is very interested in bridging that gap with a smaller, more affordable device.

Samsung Galaxy S7

Meanwhile, a fresh benchmark appears to reveal new details about the Galaxy S7, which we’re expecting to see hit the market this spring. According to the leaked info, the device is going to pack a Snapdragon 820 processor, 5.1-inch Quad HD display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 12-megapixel rear camera (5-megapixel front) and Android Marshmallow out of the box.
We expected as much from a new Samsung flagship, especially one as important as the Galaxy S7. No word on the design—it will likely look like last year’s—or what other features it will sport, but we will likely find these details out fairly soon, as Mobile World Congress is just around the corner.
